About Nicole

“Whether it is one year from now or twenty, balancing the inevitable growth of our city with the immediate needs of the community is – and should remain – the number one priority.”

– Nicole Kowalski, At-Large Council Member

Hello! I’m your neighbor Nicole, and I’m one of your at-large City Council members.

I have lived in Hudson since 2014. I moved around quite a bit growing up, and Hudson is the first place that actually feels like home to me. I love this city – the parks, the downtown area, the charm, but most of all, the people. I have never had a connection like this with a community before, so I’m excited for my husband and I to raise our daughter here and have her call Hudson home.

Professionally, I am a creative director at a Cleveland-based advertising agency. My most important and favorite job, however, is being Ella’s mommy.

Previously, I served on the Hudson Environmental Awareness Committee which advises City Council on issues related to our local environment as well as trash and recycling services.

I also serve as a volunteer board member for Hudson Community First, am a member of the Hudson Rotary Club, and am a member of Leadership Hudson’s class of 2020.

Outside of Hudson, I have volunteered as a “big sister” with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cleveland, and in 2019 was named one of 15 recipients of the YWCA Greater Cleveland’s Distinguished Young Woman Award.

Before being elected in November of 2020, I regularly attended Council meetings, which has reinforced the importance of being informed and holding your representatives accountable. I do my homework to understand the issues and develop an educated opinion.

My short- and long-term visions for Hudson are very much aligned. It’s important to respect and maintain the historic charm we know and love while still crafting a vision for the future. Whether it is one year from now or twenty, balancing the inevitable growth of our city with the immediate needs of the community is – and should remain – the number one priority. All decisions should take into consideration the rich history of Hudson, but also focus on growing our tax base and remaining fiscally responsible. My decisions are grounded in research and data, are fiscally sound, and reflect the wants and needs of the residents of Hudson.

Why is this important? Because local issues do not divide along party lines and are not partisan. When I vote on local issues, you may not always agree with me, but you can always be sure I have done my homework and cast the vote I believe is best for Hudson - and have done so with integrity. I will be accountable to YOU.

Growing up, my parents taught me that being of service to others is one of the best things you can do to make your community better. I watched them volunteer their time and efforts on countless occasions. They made it clear to me through their actions, if something needs to be done, you can’t wait for others to do it. It all starts with you.
